About this Event
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, the Tennessee Williams play that enjoyed a sell out run on Broadway, has confirmed that it will open at the Novello theatre this December, where the previously announced cast of James Earl Jones, Phylicia Rashad and Adrian Lester will be joined by Tony nominee Sanaa Lathan.
The all-black production of Williams’s familial drama will open on 1 December, following previews from 21 November, and play a limited season until 10 April 2010.
Lathan, the latest cast member to be announced, is to play Maggie, the ‘cat’ of the title. The actress’s Broadway performance in A Raisin In The Sun saw her collect a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by a Featured Actress, though she may be best known to lovers of American drama as Michelle Landau from plastic surgery romp Nip/Tuck.
Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Cat On A Hot Tin Roof is set on a Mississippi estate where patriarch Big Daddy (Jones) is unaware he is dying from cancer as the truth has been kept from him by his children. Maggie has married into this wealthy family to escape the poverty of her childhood but finds herself neglected by her alcoholic husband Brick (Lester).
Further casting for Cat On A Hot Tin Roof is yet to be announced.
